Privacy Policy

Last updated: 09/09/2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Segue collects, uses, and shares information when you visit segue.live, purchase a Segue license, or subscribe to our mailing list.

1. Who We Are

Segue is operated by [Segue LLC, once formed], based in New York, NY. For any privacy questions or requests, contact us at [email protected].

2. What We Collect

Purchase information

When you buy a Segue license, checkout is handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy collects your payment details, billing address, and email directly — we never see or store your card information. After a completed sale, we receive a limited order record (name, email, billing country, product, amount) used to deliver your license key, provide support, and process refunds.

Lemon Squeezy processes this data under its own Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement.

Marketing / mailing list information

If you subscribe to updates or opt in to marketing emails, your email address (and any other information you provide, such as your name) is stored and processed through Brevo, our email marketing platform. We only add you to this list with your explicit opt-in consent — never by default.

Brevo processes this data under its own Terms of Service, which include a Data Processing Agreement.

Website usage data

[If segue.live uses no analytics/tracking cookies: "This site does not use tracking or analytics cookies. Any cookies set are strictly necessary for the site to function (e.g., hosting security)." — Update this section once you confirm what Netlify or any analytics tool actually sets.]

3. Why We Process Your Data (Legal Basis)

  • Contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) — to deliver the license you purchased, provide support, and process refunds.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — to keep tax and accounting records as required by law.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to keep our website and systems secure and functioning.

4. How Long We Keep It

  • Order records: retained as long as required by applicable tax and accounting law (typically up to 7 years).
  • Marketing list data: retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
  • License/support records: retained for the life of your license, to support reinstallation or troubleshooting.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent to marketing at any time (unsubscribe link in every email, or contact us directly)

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within one month. Some records (e.g., invoices) cannot be deleted while a legal retention obligation applies.

If you're in the EU, you may also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. If you're a California resident, note that CCPA rights apply only once certain business thresholds are met — see Section 7.

6. International Transfers

Because Lemon Squeezy and Brevo may process data outside your home country, appropriate safeguards (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses) are used where required. See each provider's own documentation for details.

7. CCPA (California)

Segue does not currently meet the revenue or data-volume thresholds that trigger CCPA obligations. If that changes, this policy will be updated to reflect applicable California privacy rights.

8. Children's Privacy

Segue is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as Segue's tools or business structure change (e.g., upon LLC formation). Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date.
